Hi, what is the best/safest website for downloading old PC game patches?
I have been using Google to find the patches, but have noticed that a lot of the downloads appear to contain viruses or are actually malware.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Like drivers this can be a real treasure hunt.
First trick is try and find the filename of the patch fan made sites dedicated to the game can be helpful even if years out of date. A lot of these will have broken links but you can see the filename and google that instead.
Sometimes you have to go to some not so legit places, I like to no-cd crack my games anyway but sometimes thy will include the patch as well or host it on the same page.
torrents also include the patches sometimes.
Once you get them keep them, they are becoming harder to find that's for sure!
The first place I always look is http://patches-scrolls.de. Very dependable, rarely have to go back to Googling. I only prioritize the publishers' own FTP servers above those guys.
