Finally after 2 years of waiting, I'm going to try it. Thanks very much for warning me. I have to make a request to the TRW team to create an alert on board updates

Tested ....... Mobo work nice !

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link directly, but sometime back I made some MR BIOS stickers for myself - I recently showed them to Geekenspiel and they made their own, which are up for sale now. So you can now get a pretty sticker to put over your upgraded BIOS to make it look a little more legit.

When the table was moved to google docs, did it need to be removed from the website also? This is the antithesis of preservation.

I think you are trying to ask nicely for someone to upload a snapshot of the working spreadsheet, but I'm not completely sure.

Is this what you want?

Does anyone have the MrBIOS image for the SIS85c471 chipset?

I'm searching for it too. MR BIOS does exist for that chipset, but maybe lost forever...

My googleing skills have not been enough... 🙁

It would be absolutely amazing, if someone would have MR BIOS for SIS 85C471 based chipsets.
Information from one of the bios packs here, in the thread: (but the bios itself was missing 🙁 )

Filename Port Description SIS 85C471
-------- ------- ---------------------------------------------------------
V089B410 SIS_410 4 Mem Banks, REG_6A=FF
V089B411 SIS_411 6 Mem Banks, REG_6A=FF
V089B412 SIS_412 8 Mem Banks, REG_6A=FF

V089B413 SIS_413 4 Mem Banks, REG_6A=00
V089B414 SIS_414 6 Mem Banks, REG_6A=00
V089B415 SIS_415 8 Mem Banks, REG_6A=00

NOTE: The versions above are but a few samples of the
many ingenious multiplex schemes possible with
this chipset. (Hint: try V089B410 first).

I've been able to find four names so far:

Mike/Michael Meisner — mentioned as "the sole proprietor of Microid Research" in some sources from mid-90s (probably prior to their sale/merge with Unicore)
Jason Raza — often listed as "contact at MR BIOS" on Usenet
Rhod Williams (?) — mentioned as working with Meisner at one point, later became director of engineering in Phoenix, not sure whether he was actually at Microid or they just knew each other.
Pierre Narath — founder and CEO from 1989 to 1996

In this article both Narath and Raza are described as Unicore people though. As far as I understand, Unicore purchased Microid, Phoenix purchased Unicore, but after Phoenix got Award, they sold Microid and Unicore to Touchstone. Not sure how eSupport is related to Touchstone.

Can someone help me with this? (ICL Fujitsu ErgoPro D4/66XGi and MR BIOS?)

Motherboard is: https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/I/I … -DXG-D4-66.html

There's MR BIOS for the chipset and I really would like to use that. But, there's ATI Mach32 VLB vbios and SCSI-bios in original image which needs to saved for new bios image.

How to do it? I have TL866II.

Edit: found software named MMTOOL, maybe that'll help? CBROM.EXE... and others.

A bit of a heads-up for the person maintaining the Unicore BIOS repository, and anyone with a Tekram P5V30-B4 motherboard.
The Unicore 2A59GTG9 BIOS is actually broken: it doesn't correctly assign PCI IRQs beyond the first detected PCI device, so everything past the first PCI device gets 'NA' IRQ.
This causes all kinds of stupid havoc in Windows 9x, for example.
Had to revert to the OEM BIOS to restore proper behavior.

Life isn't long enough to re-enable every hidden option in every BIOS on every board... 🙁

There are two images for that motherboard, have you by chance tried the other one? 2A59G009. Which revision number and I/O chip does your board have?

Just a Tekram P5V30-B4 version 2.1
The Super I/O is the Winbond variety (hence the 2A59GTG9 BIOS); the other BIOS version is for an SMC super I/O.
Am fairly sure that the super I/O won't have much impact on the BIOS not assigning PCI devices interrupts, in any case.

Hello.

I wonder if there is MR BIOS for OPTi 82C802/82C601 486 mainboard.
It has 1 VLB slot/4 ISA slots and PS/2 type keyboard and mouse port with integrated CL GD5428 video chipset.
Currently it has 504MB HDD limit and cannot enable external cache due to bad cache ram
error. Also to overcome HDD size limit I tried to use XT-IDE BIOS but due to lack of enable shadow memory option in bios, transfer rate is too low (about 0.5MB/s)

I hopefully try to use appropriate MR BIOS for this mainboard to overcome these problems.

Thanks

Hi!

Well you seem to have a very tricky case.

First, I don't think I ever saw any mentions of OPTi 82C802 in MR BIOS docs. In fact, it seems to be a pretty rare chipset — on TRW there is only one board with it. We do have images for 82C802G, which should be just 82C802 with added power management features. See the image V085B4C1 on the OPTi sheet in this spreadsheet. There's a high chance 802 should work with a BIOS made for 802G. Another candidate would be 895 image (seems to be 802G with a different memory configuration), we have one as well. Not sure about 801. The download images are on the first page.

Second, looking at your board it seems like the BIOS sticker is on a DIP-40 chip, so they've likely labelled the keyboard controller chip as the BIOS, and the actual BIOS is on the right from it. It's a DIP32 chip, so I suspect it's 128KB while the system BIOS is probably 64KB. If that's the case, it's probably a combined BIOS that includes both the system BIOS and the videocard BIOS for the Cirrus Logic chip. None of the MR BIOS images except for some very late Socket 7 ones include the video BIOS and I haven't ever heard about anyone successfully merging MR BIOS with a video BIOS. Haven't tried personally, maybe someone else can chime in on this — I know people have done this with NCR SCSI stuff.

So in short, we have the images that are very likely to work with your chipset, but the video BIOS part is probably a challenge here. And I definitely wouldn't attempt this without a chip programmer.

Hello

Thanks for the reply.
Could you let me know where the bios is? I have chip programmer for bios flashing and think worth trying.
As for video, I plan to use VLB video card and it does not matter if onboard video is not working.

Thanks.
