Hi

I got Jill of the Jungle when it was free on GoG. I see that it uses DOSBox. I assume it will work on my DOS PC just fine, which already has the Shareware version. Can I just copy over the GoG version of the game and delete any reference to GoG to save some disk space?

Yes. It ends up taking about 2.6MB once you clear all the GOG stuff out.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

It should work without issues. I have copied DOS games from my modern system to my 486 without issues that I purchased or obtained for free on either GOG or Steam sites.

If you have bought a game in gog, would you consider it wrong to simply just download the original dos version of the game so you would not need to remove manually all the crap that gog has added to make the game work in windows since you paid for the game anyway?

How do you know there's not crap in the version from the abandonware site? And honestly, it takes less than a minute to remove the GOG-added files (mainly dosbox, icons, PDFs, and config files).

Well, that is up to the person who downloads it if he knows that they are good at site he is downloading from. Basically I am just asking if you think that if you have paid for a game in gog.com, would it be ok for that person to download any version he wants? Perhaps a version that has not been patched to newer version would work better in his computer or whatever reason he thinks that he can find a version of the game that works better for him.

Also, in most cases, when you DL the game from another site, most of the games have missing pieces of the puzzle, such as some sound card drivers.
