What is this additional "compatibility" line that I often see for CTMOUSE?

Getting old software/games running on older hardware.

What is this additional "compatibility" line that I often see for CTMOUSE?

Some AUTOEXEC.BAT:

Code: Select all
...
LH CTMOUSE
REM For compatiblity purpose:
LH CTMOUSE > NUL
...

Notice that CTMOUSE gets called a second time with its output redirected to NUL. Any idea why?

"Often"? Where did you see it often? I never saw it at all.

What I can guess is that on some computers CTMOUSE may fail to work unless loaded twice, and the redirection to >NUL is just to avoid it output to the screen twice.
