On the chart in this weblink, http://vintage3d.org/rgraph/wcmin.php , someone is comparing the frame rates of Wing Commander with different graphic cards. Does this game have a timedemo or frame rate display and how does one activate this? Thanks!

I'm not near my systems to check, but going by memory I think CTRL-F or SHIFT-F shows current FPS in the top left corner. And if you google around, there are third-party patches to force past the 30-fps limit.

Origin also used CTRL-F/SHIFT-F to show framerate in WC3 and Pacific Strike.

Attached is a screenshot of in-game play for WC5 Gold. Pressing Alt-F, Shift-F, or Ctrl-F does not change what I see below. Am I doing something wrong, or does the static 24 shown on the bottom left imply 24 fps? If so, it doesn't change.

My WinME system is down with a dead HDD, so I can't check, feipoa. I'll reinstall the game in GOG Galaxy on my modern system and try it out to see. I know WC3 has the framerate display, I wonder if vintage3d.org is confusing the two games.

OK, thanks.

I tried one of the 3rd party patches to increase the framerate above the default 30 fps, but the program said that its not compatible with my version of Windows (w95c).

Just verified none of the framerate key combos work. I bet vintage3d.org used the FRAPS. BTW, that 24 in the lower left corner indicates how many decoys you have left.

Oh? Will it work on Win95c? And is it realistic to use on a slower system, or will it slow down the game?

Fraps 1.9d is supposedly freeware. If you search fraps19d, there are lots of download options, and lots of text about it being "the last free version". I can't verify. Regardless, it also appears that fraps19d only works with D3D games, so my guess about vintage3d.org using fraps for WC:P seems to be wrong.

When I look thru this directory of patches for WC Prophecy, it does seem like D3D is supported. There's OpenGL patches as well. https://www.wcnews.com/wcpedia/Category:Wing_ … rophecy_Patches
