Excluding any nostalgia factors Windows will primarily be for file management and networking on a 486
Windows 95 is easier to get up and running, you also benifit from "Dos 7" with it's Fat32 and long filename support (useful for when on network)
Windows for Work groups 3.11 is faster, feels more "correct" IMHO but is bit more clunky on the network (No Network Neighborhood or UNC path support, just drive maps)
NT3.51 is an interesting idea I never really considered either!
All 3 will need SMB v1 enabled in any Windows newer then XP
It comes down to preference, On my DX2/66 I have a "pure" Dos 6.22/Win3.11 setup
My 586 I have Win95 and large Fat32 drives
Trident 9400 ? what version ?
maybe you hit 256 Color Barrier ;D

Yip. Tried it on NT 3.51 Server many moons ago. Why do you think it took so long to release NT 4?

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉
