Update: I used a combination of the Archive drivers I found and the drivers you can install in Windows to successfully install the drivers. However, I get no sound through the sound card.

The bliggiest blop.

No sound even in Windows ?

I assume you have checked mixer settings and possibly tried line out and speaker out on your card (if it has both) ?

This Windows driver (the one you linked) should work under Windows 9x http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?file … 178&menustate=0 .
If the driver is properly installed but you are not getting sound with the mixer out enabled and the speakers/headphones connected to the green jack ( https://web.archive.org/web/19971009081451/ht … pci/a_specs.htm ) , you may have a defective/damaged card .

If sound does not work in Windows, it is unlikely to work in DOS .

For DOS , this one should work :
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=3 … menustate=45,36

As a plan B, there is this one for DOS, but it does not explicitly mention the ES1370, so I have my doubts :

I tried the DOS drivers. They give me this error message:

error: PCI device detect failed: Device not found.
PCI audio driver NOT loading.

That is not cool .

Does the card work in Windows, at least ?

It may be defective, but that would be really bad luck .

I have just thought of something . When you were testing the CS4280, did you ever try letting Windows boot fully and then choosing "restart in MS-DOS mode" to exit to DOS ?
It's a long shot, but maybe the Windows driver for the CS42080 would initialize it just enough for the DOS utility to then detect the card and work .
