I've got

Pentium 120mhz
32 MB RAM
Diamond Stealth DRAM 64 video card (S3 Vision864) (apparently VESA version 1.02, all I know is it's not great.)
Vibra16 Sound Blaster 16(compatible?)
Some random CD-RW drive that works just fine with oakcdrom.sys
MS-DOS 6.22
and of course, Windows 3.1

Attempting to install SimTower in Windows, it gets to 55% and says:
"Setup ran out of memory while copying! Terminate any running applications and try again."

I ran memmaker and told it to go ahead and save some for Windows, but that didn't help.
Diamond's InControl Tools are down in my lefthand corner, but shutting them down doesn't help (I'd like to get rid of them too but don't know how.)
Let's see if I can type out my current config.sys and autoexec.bat (after running memmaker)

Config.sys

DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS WIN=ED00-EFFF WIN=EA00-ECFF
BUFFERS=40,0
FILES=40
DOS=UMB
LASTDRIVE=E
FCBS=4,0
DOS=HIGH
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,25904 =C:\VIBRA16\DRV\VIBRA16.SYS /UNIT=0 /BLASTER=A:220 I:5 D:1 H:5
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,10416 =C:\VIBRA16\DRV\CTMMSYS.SYS
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,40800 =C:\OAKCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001
DEVICEHIGH /L:1,12048 =C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE

Autoexec.bat

SET SOUND=C:\VIBRA16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
C:\VIBRA16\DIAGNOSE /S
C:\VIBRA16\MIXERSET /P /Q
LH /L:0;1,45456 /S C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE /X
C:\MOUSE.COM
LH /L:1,27952 C:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001
@ECHO OFF
PROMPT $p$g
PATH C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS

Boy I hope that's enough information to help.

BUFFERS=40,0 ? 😕
I heard that SmartDrive can be used as a substitute, but always had buffers enabled, too.

I'd also add STACKS=9,256 or STACKS=18,512 to config.sys and see if makes any change.

If nothing works, you can give WfW 3.11 a try, too. It has its own replacement for share.exe, for example. 😀

I KNEW something was missing. Lemme get them stacks in there and see what happens, if that fails I'll happily upgrade to 3.11

1.) MS-DOS 6.22, Pentium 233mhz, 32mb RAM, S3 Trio64, Sound Blaster Pro 2
2.) Windows 98SE with Unofficial SP3, AMD Athlon 1.3ghz, 768mb RAM, Geforce 4 MX 440 64mb AGP, Sound Blaster Live! Value

Stacks didn't help, but I upgraded to Win 3.11 (not for Workgroups) and that seems to have done the trick. Thank you!

You're welcome. 😀

I'm glad it works now. 😁
