All tests are being done on a Thinkpad 760-ED with parts from an XL and EL.
The Specs are

Pentium 166MHZ MMX CPU
64MB EDO
16GB CF as primary storage.
8x CDROM
1.44MB 3.5 External Floppy Drive

My first experiment is one I've done many times before, though this time it required more due to OnTrack.

#1
Making NT4 boot from a FAT32 partition.

For this project, I used the following,
OnTrack 9.57
Partition Magic 7.0
bootable dos 7.1 floppy
the bootable fat32 IFS driver from here
http://ashedel.chat.ru/fat32/fastfat32.rar

Using the Ontrack software I created a single 2GB FAT16 partition.
Installed NT4 to that partition
Installed drivers and updated to SP6a high encryption
replaced fastfat.sys and fs_rec.sys in c:\winnt\system32\drivers with ones from the rar file
Rebooted
wait for the prompt to boot from floppy after the OnTrack driver loads.
Insert dos boot disk with the dos version of Partition Magic
load mouse driver and pqmagic
convert partition to FAT32 and resize it to take whole drive
reboot with ontrack bootdisk
update overlay and and finally
reboot

Have you tried running any games using that system configuration?
Did you run into any issues using that system after you converted the FAT?

I never ended up giving NT4 a try (even though I got the disk), if only because of its seemingly limited usability as a gaming platform and because I had so many other project and ideas running at the time.

It would be funny to reshell a few Windows 7 related components on NT 4
