Trying to run setsound for MW2 Mercs in DOS causes the system to lock up. I have an AC97 onboard and working fine for DOS programs under win98, do i need to install seperate DOS drivers, and if so how would I do that please?

It's been a long long time since I've messed about with win98 and dos and I'm seriously ring rusty 😒 any help would be gratefully received! 😀

EDIT : everything worked in the dos shell but any sound is crackly. Sorry I know I'm being vague just trying to look into this at the same time as corraling two young children 😒 🤣
