Are there any good compatible codec packs to watch media files on Windows 95/98 machines?

Yes. Klite, for example. 😀
With KernelEx installed, K-Lite Codec Pack 590 Mega should work, I believe.

Not a codec pack, but I have VLC 0.8.6h in my NT4 utility folder, so that should work for Win95 as well.
