windows 98 protection error on boot

hi i have a problem which appears quite often. I am using my pc, no changes on hardware etc and it happens than that on boot the protection error appear and i cannot boot anymore, even if i restart. i can only boot in safe. mode. only a fresh install helped me.
Interesting is, when i disable all start options completely in msconfig in the general window (autoexec, system.ini etc ), it still wont start.
It only says windows protection error please restart, nothing more

It comes right after the 2nd windows loading screen appears shortly before going into windows.

but after 3rd time within a week i want to find a solution for that.

maybe you have an idea?

No, only the nusb driver

Edit found the problem. I have removed the sound blaster audio driver and it worked again.

I have a SB live card with the recommend audigy driver.

The error comes just randomly. I have inly installed some games inbetween.

What could be the conflict?

Update: tried than after to reinstall the new drivers, windows hangs up in start just short before the explorer is loading. so something was wrong with the drivers, have to reinstall windows.
