Using the mouse when under DOS directly (without windows) it works fine.
Then I when load Windows for Work Groups 3.11, it's fine there too.
However, if I then open a DOS prompt in full screen and load a DOS program that uses the mouse, the mouse motion is erratic, doesn't respond to clicks, and is otherwise unusable.
But if I Alt-Enter the DOS program to a window, it's fine.
It just seems to do this under a full screen DOS prompt from windows.

DOS version 6.2
The DOS Mouse driver: Microsoft Mouse.com version 9.01
Win FWW version 3.11
I don't have any special mouse driver loaded for Windows.

What am I missing here?

What a coincidence! I hit this issue a couple weeks ago https://github.com/NattyNarwhal/vmwmouse/issu … ment-1065929496

What happens is that the MS Mouse driver 9.x series ship with their own special Windows 3.x protected mode driver (called MOUSEVKD.386 ).
You have to use it, otherwise you get the behavior you are describing.

So either install the Windows part of the MS Mouse 9.x driver (you should have seen the option to do it during the MSMOUSE install),
or revert to MS Mouse 8.2x which does not require this extra driver.
Actually I don't even know which new features MS Mouse 9.x has over 8.x, other than almost double the memory usage 😀

Yep! That's exactly what the problem was.
I had originally only had DOS and then later added Windows.
I didn't even think to reinstall the mouse driver.

I am a bit curious about trying mouse version 8. Although, version 9 auto loads itself in high memory so I still have a good 620Ki of conventional memory.
