Hi everyone,
Can anyone recommend any good software for drawing graphics to be used in a DOS game? What did game developers at the time use?
The drawing utility itself does not need to be old or run under DOS, as long as it allows me to draw stuff inside EGA/VGA palette limitations.

Thanks in advance

I think Deluxe paint was used for Monkey Island and other games.

You may also find this video interesting although probably not the same era. A developper from the late 80s early 90s talks about painting programs he used back then and the technical details. There are a few french programs and there's not many pc programs either. I think he says back then he was always going back and forth between using commercial programs and writing his own painting software because the UI wasn't good enough in the commercial products.

Thanks for the responses, just installed Grafx2 on my main PC.
Seems like a very nice program, it even runs in a whole environment mimicking DOS so I'm always feeling like a game developer from the early 90s 😁
