How do you keep your DOS Retro computer free from Viruses ?

Um, personally, I just run anti-virus from time to time and let it check the files.
My father on the other hand, preventively infected them back then.
Edit: He immunized them, I mean. With the anti-virus software.
Doing so made the files immune against infection caused by common viruses of the time.

Personally I either use F-PROT on DOS systems or just scan the files beforehand on my modern pc
F-PROT you can download here: Re: Best DOS antivirus?
and history of the 2009 definitions explained here: Re: DOS antivirus , any left?
to my knowledge this is the most complete solution that can run on anything 386+
Simply do not insert an infected floppy disk into your machine.

Yeah, and always use protection! Don't give infections a chance. 🙂👍

I used F-PROT to scan my collection of DOS/Windows98 era viruses...now I use Kaspersky to scan modern ones, since F-PROT was last updated 2009.. but you can use my mini antivirus to clean common BOOT & FILE viruses of that ear on your disks, you don't even need to boot from clean floppy disk just run VCHECK.EXE it can disable those viruses even if they are active, it can detect and clean some 200+ of them but you need to run it better on DOS though it will operate on not later than ME version of Windows.
