Hi! I have some Win98 games for a computer at mother's house on floppies and Zip disks. I need to try them again. 😀 I'm looking for more. Where can I find them?

Hi, sure. There are plenty of great Windows 9x/XP games I can think of. ^^
In addition, with KernelEx, Windows 98 is quite compatible to Windows XP software library.

If you like Point&Click games, then Out of Order is surely worth to play. It's very humorous and has good background music.
Like many others, I had gladly paid for it. It's one of those one-man-group homebrew games that totally deserve a big box release.

The Breakdown, is also interesting. It features one scene with a "modern" Windows XP computer. Yeah, the last 20 years passed so quickly. 😉

Re: Could anyone recommend some pc games for girls?

PS: Back in the day, the 2000s, I visited Caiman.us almost regularly. To me, it was a continuation to the old days of shareware CDs, but with Windows 98/XP era software.
It still saddens me that its founder has passed away many years ago.

PS: The platformer Holdover also comes to mind. Because it uses GDI and uses MIDI, like so many games of Japanese origin.
Ideal for testing some SC-55 or DB50XG module. Or a SoftSynth (S-YXG50).

Edit: If you haven't chosen a screensaver yet, have a look at this one (The Chronicles of Jaruu Tenk).

Edit: Speaking of Windows 98 games, do you have any.. preferences?

dominusprog: I actually downloaded some games from mobygames, but the ones I tried to install were incompatible with the system. Jo22: I'm looking for free or low-cost games, and I like text adventures for early computers. I also like games with good graphics and sound, and I'm into Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I like platformers, shoot-em-ups and action games. Thank you both. 😀

dominusprog: I tried you site and may have been wrong about downloading from them before. Maybe I was thinking of a different site. Earlier today, I tried the site but didn't see a download link. How do I download from the site?

I tried it. 😀 Unfortunately, I don't quite have the money for them. 🙁 BTW, I just remembered: I can try download.com. I'll do that now. 😀

I'm glad I remembered that site: it has a lot of good Win98 games. 😀 BTW, I'm also looking for a Win98 program to do QuickAccess Popup's job: allow me to open any folder on the hard drive with a click of the mouse. I have, like and use AppPlus and had it on an old Win98SE tower but didn't fully set it up on my new Win98SE tower. BTW, are there any other fun ways to enhance the computer?

With GOG, it's best to wait until the game that you want goes on sale. At that time, most Win9x era games can be had for less than 5 EUR/USD.

Also, they often give away games for free, as long as you're subscribed to their newsletter.

One thing I like to do is go through old issues of Computer Gaming World for games I may have overlooked at the time. I've found a few relatively obscure gems that way.

Win95/DOS 7.1 - P233 MMX (@2.5 x 100 FSB), Diamond Viper V330 AGP, SB16 CT2800
Win98 - K6-2+ 500, GF2 MX, SB AWE 64 CT4500, SBLive CT4780
Win98 - Pentium III 1000, GF2 GTS, SBLive CT4760
WinXP - Athlon 64 3200+, GF 7800 GS, Audigy 2 ZS

Joseph_Joestar: I thank you for your advice. Download.com has some good games.

The forum has pretty strict rules about piracy. It protects the forum. We can't help you find games for free.

GoG and Steam and humble bundles ect are really good ways to get old games for cheap - especially if they are on sale.

The ScummVM devs have some (legitimate) free titles on their site: https://www.scummvm.org/games/

Also, check out DosFreak's sticky on freeware titles (you will have to do some sifting for Win98 compatibility): OLD NOT NEW List of Free Games

Gaffa2002 has put together some DOS freeware and shareware compilations:

Creating a CD with freeware DOS games - Any game suggestions?

Not sure why I'm mentioned alongside that website when I only and specifically recommended using GOG.

As noted by others, piracy and abandonware are not tolerated on this forum.

I'm sorry for the grammatical error. 🙁 It was a side note. BTW, I recently found https://www.classicdosgames.com/, and I thank all of you for your help. 🙁

I have found and downloaded Win16 games, Win98 themes and other stuff there. I'll try it for Win98 games now. 😀

I think I have it. IIRC, it is text screen-only DOS game. Thank you, though. 😀
