Hello,

I have an IBM PS/2 Model 70 (386/20) w/ 6mb of ram running MSDOS 6.22 that I've recently got back up and running after about 30 years..
I have some boxed copies of Sierra software (KQ1-5, SQ1-3) and have been installing and playing some old titles. So here is the problem... KQ2 (AGI version) and SQ1 (AGI version) both install just fine, but when I go to start the game, they both crash and cause my machine to reboot while checking the copy protection on the disk. I will start the game, get a prompt on the screen to insert the first disk in drive A, then hit enter. I do that, the floppy drive reads the disk, then the screen goes black and the machine reboots. Both games are installed to the hard drive. I have KQ1 (SCI version) and that will start and run just fine. Did some searching online and didn't find any similar issues. So looking for some help as to what might be happening here.

Thanks!

I had not becuase it looks like those are solutions for running under DOSBox. This is period hardware/software , so I was looking for a solution that I would have had to use back in 1990.

They are not all DOSbox related ~ read carefully =)

This one, maybe?

The earliest releases were from 1988-1990, so it's period correct.

When I used SUP with KQ3 about 20 years ago, I vaguely remember, it had asked me for my original disk, though (which I had owned, ofc).

Tried "SUP" and it worked!! Your are correct it asks for my original disk 1 for each game and it briefly read the disk, then it was done. After that each game started without prompting me for the first disk.

Still curious as to what was causing the machine to reboot.

But I'm good to go!

Thanks for the help!
