Sorry if this is common knowledge or has been posted before.
But is it possible to install the talkie edition on an old 486 and get the voices working through my SB16? Or does it require a much faster PC?
Also I have an Roland SCC-1 card for music.

Yes, it works fine on a 486 and voice should work fine too, just make sure you run it with the correct command line switches:

Options:
k Keyboard
j Joystick
m Mouse
i Interal Speaker
a Adlib/SoundBlaster sounds
s220/7/8 Select SoundBlaster (optional addr/int/K bufsize)
r General MIDI port 330
r1 Roland sounds port 330
r2 Roland sounds port 332
r3 Roland sounds port 334
r4 Roland sounds port 336
t Text Only (no voice)

For example, in order to play with a Joystick and a Roland,
type: MONKEY j r

Cool. Yeah seems to work.
I've had it lock up once, and the audio turn into absolute noise when the pirate with the Loom add was giving his spiel. Seems, not stable.

If it's locking up, it's your computer locking up... I went through that... Loosen your memory timings and see if it's stable. I found that this and Doom were good stability tests for my 486.
