Is there a DOS-based program to find the settings a Sound Blaster sound card uses? I can't get any sound from any of my programs, as the BLASTER variable isn't set.

If SBDETECT fails, then probably the only solution is card-specific utility.

You can post a photo of the card, very likely somebody recognizes it.
Also, try the older version of SBDETECT, sometimes it's more compatible...

Uhh...I don't have access to the internals of my computer, even though the computer has a glass screen on the side. I will download and try the program now.

Yes, obviously it needs some initialization software.
You can try UNISOUND - UNISOUND - Universal ISA PnP Sound Card Driver for DOS v0.81b - but of course it can't support all cards.

It reports no PnP card detected. 🙁 A few minites ago, I experimented with CMOS settings. I'll go back there now.

Is it possible it's a PCI card?
There's plenty of software to list PCI devices, eg. HWINFO...

BTW, I want to reset Windows setup without losing my DOS setup? This is for an unrelated problem keeping Windows from starting. I have the contents of the OEM ISO extracted to a folder on the desktop and can navigate to it from DOS.

I downloaded and tried HWINFO, and it said I have no sound card. 🙁 I guess I have to do without. 🙁
