Mussorgsky: "Pictures at an Exhibition" .. the arrangement by Ravel is best known.

Mussorgsky is a little bit popular for vid game music, there's some of his in Frontier Elite II and FFE, and pops up here and there.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Thanks. That's been something I wondered about for 30 years or so...

I'm showing my age, but "Pictures at an Exhibition" used to be the interval signal for Voice of Russia on shortwave, and I believe Radio Moscow before that.

Shortwave broadcasters needed a repetitive sound to play between broadcasts so listeners could tune to the correct frequency, particularly in the days before receivers had digital displays. Here is an old clip with the song used as both the interval signal and as the introductory song for the broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co3Xy5u32W4
