Sorry if this has already been brought up, but I find this a fascinatings and original (ab)use of Sound Canvas hardware .

Playing back the generated MIDI files works with any competent SYSEX capable MIDI player, AFAICT .

Definitely worth a listen if you have the required hardware . There are also recordings available .
