Hey!
I wonder is it possible or even worth it to install both a soundblaster live and a Aureal vortex 3 in the same pc?
This is on a windows 98se.
asus p4c800 deluxe Intel 875 chipset.
GeForce 5950 ultra
And no other pci devices except the vortex 2 card currently installed.
Vortex uses .vxd drivers and the live can use .vdm so that might be a way I guess.

Could that potentially work?
Or is this a driver and dma/irq confilct hell situation?

I've never done this specific combination but most my 98 builds have at least 2 soundcards and work fine. You just set the desired card as primary playback device from Control Panel/ Multimedia
Assuming you want the Live for EAX and Aureal for A3D? if it's worth it will depend on what games you are playing and what they support (personally I don't have many A3D 2.0 games)
The Aureal card also gives you a wavetable header and alternate dos drivers if that's of any interest.

It's possible but no A3D or EAX at the same time because both use a3d.dll in windows 98.

So when playing A3D games you need to have A3D.DLL from Vortex2 drivers and for EAX you need to use A3D.DLL from Creative-drivers. It's tricky but tried it and works, did batch-file to swap those and shortcut to desktop.
