Oh! I think I know exactly what you are talking about!
So, if you were at all like me, you wanted to use the SB Live's line-in in DOS because you have another soundcard you want to use for DOS, as opposed to the SB Live's substandard emulation. I'm not sure why, and I believe the source code for the mixer is no longer available, but EK1M only wrecked my memory when I ran it after running SBEINIT. And I actually found that for my use case, where I was only using the SB Live as a mixer in dos, I didn't even need to run SBEINIT. Only EK1M to set the mixer settings. It didn't solve the problem, but it avoided it entirely.
