Hello.
I bought me a MDR -401x for the Intelligent Mode on my MT32, but there is no sound.
The MT32 does work on a Soundblaster.
I asked my seller on ebay about the DIP Switches on the MDR-401.
You can only set four different IRQs as written under the switches: 2-3-5-7.
The Adress is 330h and cannot be changed.

What I already tried to get music:
I removed the SB, still no sound.
I measured my midi cable with success,
used the Demosequencer Software which worked and Dos Games for testing,
changed the IRQ to 5 for testing and
changed the default receive channels from2-9 to 1-8 whlie holding down Master Volume and pressing Part 5, then Part 1.
Still no sound, no changes on the Display.
What else can I do?
Is a broken Adapter (for the MDR-401) the last possible explanation?
Is it possible that the MT32 does not work in intelligent Mode?
Greetings
Ralf

Do you get sound from the MT32 when it is connected to SB16 ? Any game capable of outputting MIDI will be able to make it do at least some sounds. If it doesn't react then it is possible that your MT32 has a fault in it, perhaps cracked solder on MIDI input port.

Ok, then the problem is definitely on the MDR side but what exactly I am unsure of.

Games do recognize MPU401 interface and not error out when you try the MDR ?
