Is SB Pro compatibility supposed to work in the command prompt under Windows 98SE on a YMF715E based card ?

The card is an Audiotrix 3D/XG and works fine under pure DOS as an SB Pro and a WSS . IRQ settings match between DOS and Windows (as far as I can tell, I assume the IRQ DMA ordering matches that in Init3dxg.exe) . driver is the version 1.0 WDM driver provided by Mediatrix (already tried re-installing the driver). Test programs were Duke Nukem 3D setup (finds an IRQ or DMA conflict) and Doom 1.9 (no sound effects) .

The same system also has an AWE64 that works fine in the command prompt and a GUS 3.73 that has no drivers installed in Windows

There are no IRQ/DMA conflicts (between either of the 3 cards).

I seem to recall it working before, is my memory playing tricks on me ? Am I missing something ?

You only get it with the VxD driver that you can find on Yamaha's site or few other places. I never got anything working with the WDM drvers outside FM and MIDI.
