My previous experiwnces with the ALS chipsets is limited to ALS007 and ALS100 both of which had terrible filtering issues..

This chip is supposed to be better in that regard and also has an integrated accurate clone FM synth? Although I have a billion such cards something need be said for being sb16 compatible I guess?

Can anyone tell me about their experiences with this chipset? Worth trying in a 486/Pentium DOS PC?

I'm using two, currently. They are fully SB16 compatible, but like later SB Vibra cards, both low and high DMA can only be set to 0 - 3. So some games with SB16 support can only be used in SB Pro mode.

My ALS100+ cards have external OPL3 clones.

I made some recordings of the ALS100 Plus at end of page 3 in this thread: Re: I need some sound advice
Not sure if they are good enough, though. My equipment isn't/wasn't exactly the best. 😅

to me it sounds very like the ViBRA when there is no OPL3 chip external, also the drivers work fine in both DOS and Windows and has good compatibility.
