I have horible delay in win xp through USB-midi
Win98 having BSOD when I to to install drivers 🙁
So I need something more convenient
Laptop is Sony PCG-505TR with FM synth on it. Pretty cool laptop, thin and light.
Later laptops doing USB-MIDI just fine since like PIII, but - there is no FM anymore
I would like to have some pcmcia card with midi support. Only card I have is REX 5570, but it is stricted to W95 only, I can't make it work even in W98 🙁

I used that card without issues in Windows 98, how did you install it?

Through the setup.exe, i turned off built in sound card to avoid conflicts and then still nothing. Exclamation point in device manager saying probably I need to update my drivers

You need to disable the integrated sound in the BIOS. Otherwise there still will be resource conflicts...

I did and it is still doing that in device manager. I also reinstall the driver again, just to make sure there is no leftovers... 🙁

Just point the device manager to the .inf file from the rex5570.exe archive.
Just extract the .exe in a folder somewhere yourself.
Can you post a scrrenshot of the device manager with the Ratoc card properties open?

I was able to run it once! It was being some Melody and i was happy and then It's beeping twice and looks like error. So only thing i run is W95 on Compaq Elite LTE. That's the best I achieved

Do you have the Card and Socket services loaded in your config.sys before the 5570 driver for usage under DOS?

Could you post the contents of your config.sys and autoexec.bat files?
Do you have any other PCMCIA cards to test the port with?
