I'm confused as to what to get to install fully my SB Live! value on my Windows 98 system.

There's a TON of files in vogonsdrivers:

But I am confused as to what would work and what would not.

From bits and pieces here and there, I managed to get some sort of Windows drivers going, and the SB emulation stuff for DOS, but I realize I am missing stuff, like a Soundfont control panel in Windows, and SB emulation in Windows too. From reading the manual I realized I needed to have that but I d on't.

I am unsure if the Liveware 3.0 disc will work or if it is for other cards.

Any help appreciated!

Creative Labs has everything you need for Win9x and the Live! series of cards.

https://support.creative.com/Products/product … e=Sound+Blaster

Then in the left column, select Live! (very bottom one)

Then in the right column (archived products), select Live! Value (very bottom one).

Then when the page comes up, you can select the OS. It defaulted to Win95 for me.

There are detailed descriptions for every single package.

I did try Creative and could not find that, I guess my fault was in trusting Google with the results.
Every package I find does not have the Soundfont manager or the DOS support pack, I don't really understand it.

From the page you sent me, this seems to be like what I need:

Sound Blaster (Live! Series) Drivers Update
Filesize : 5.42 MB Download
Release date : 2 May 00
This is latest driver update for Sound Blaster Live! Series of audio cards for users running on Windows 95 and 98 only. This release includes: Updated version of Surround Mixer 1.0 and AudioHQ. 1024-voice software MIDI synth for Sound Blaster Live! (Option to select up to 1024 software voices)

I'm gonna give it a try, but it does not mention DOS

Thank you!

I think the pure DOS stuff is only on the install CD. I don't think it was ever available from Creative's site, but I could be wrong as I haven't messed with a Live! card for years.

But I think legacy support for running DOS games from within Windows 9x should be included in the driver from Creative.

Real mode DOS stuff is inluded on the CT4760 CD. It also has the SoundFont bank manager:

They are also available on the newest listed retail CD. File dates are also newer:

LiveWare 3 is my choice for Live on Win9x. The CD release has everything. If it will work for your particular card. OEM cards aren't always easy to find drivers for. Live 5.1 is also more difficult.

I will try that, thanks!
