Both the 0.5 MB and 2 MB version of the Diamond Monster Sound use an AdMos QDSP wavetable. I own both and they aren't that good. Well, the 2 MB one is average, but I have 1 MB wavetable cards that sounds better.

Yeah this is what i felt also as i owned the 2 MB version and thought it sound really pretty basic, hence selling it on.

Board uses the "GS" labeled rom that Dream went into court issues with Roland back then (which they settled after some time), it's not using the Cleanwave bank
It's the real mask rom , meaning the old Dream part # from back then - not a burned one or a copy or some trick.

I recently re-installed my Monster MIDI 4MB GS . Though I did not really like it at the time, since re-installation, it has sort of grown on me .

Anyway, this is a great development, as the old SAM9733 daughterboards on the market are crazy expensive as well as weapons-grade unobtainium .

If the sample formats are somehow compatible, I would be very curious to know how the X2 synthesis engine would sound with that old GS ROM .

Definitely interested in one of these.

Are regular Cancun's that sought after? It sounds nice, although a bit like a slightly modified sc-55 instrument set.
I guess that kinda makes it a nice alternative to a proper '55 in a weird way 😁

I don't find that my Monster MIDI 4MB GS sounds much like my SC-88 with either native or SC-55 map . I definitely prefer the SC-88 .

Pop one of these on the upcoming Orpheus and that's one quality ISA sound option 👍

Nice work team!

Certainly buying one or two if the price tag is below the X2.

Will it be possible to use this as a USB audio device just like the X3MA or will this project follow a different path?

this is just a classic wavetable daughterboard, it can only output analog audio through the wavetable header

Would it possible to record some classics like Doom E1M1 or Duke3D Grabbag with this?

Or is it still too early in development for that?

I guess you could still insert it into the DOX-Box to use it as a standalone MIDI device, then? It worked with my DB50XG.

Any chance that the PCB could be blue? I still desperately need a blue daughterboard for my Aureal SQ2500 card.

First batch will be green, as in the Yucatan FX predecessor tradition...

Does anyone have yet more sound examples of known/popular games to share from this soundbank? I am not familiar with the Cancun FX, it sounds very interesting.

Splendid work, Serge.

Okay ! Remaining problem found and patched in Rev B. Thanks to Keropi and PJ for assistance !
I will fix in Rev C which will be final revision, 100% OK.
Price for completely soldered and tested Yucatan FX will be around 68 euro.
I will run a first batch soon.

First I will test extensively now. So far it sounds great and works fine.

Here's a quick test with transport tycoon track.

Put me inline for one! Are they going to be black? They are great companions for Orpheus! I just love this sound.
