Stumbled upon this thread while trying to ID this soundcard I'm getting with a bunch of other old parts:

I take it it's a Primax Soundstormwave card? It's definitely a GUS clone, but the layout is different from what you guys have posted here and the pic isn't clear enough to read the silk-screenings.... Anything special about these?

EDITED - silkscreening reads "SOUND M16C" (between the Gravis GF1 chip and the ISA connector)

It's a internally a late GUS revision with ICS mixer chip and 4x CD-ROM interfaces. I strongly recommend to add the memory IC to have 1 MB on it.
I have here two in my gallery http://www.retronn.de/imports/hwgal/hw_gus.html

Retronn.de - Vintage Hardware Gallery, Drivers, Guides, Videos. Now with file search
Youtube Channel
FTP Server - Driver Archive and more
DVI2PCIe alignment and 2D image quality measurement tool

Sweet - my first GUS card. Now I can't wait for it to get here!

The Synergy Vipermax might be a bit more rare than the GUS Extreme, I'm only aware of a handful of those.

I always think, that Synergy Vipermax and GUS Extreme is same board, differ only with logo and box. Is this true?

Added two of them.
Why did you use "altrasound" name? As far as I know - it's just a nickname, not official.

Somebody sort a both tables without taking in to account, that they contain different type of boards.
So, I've add second spreadsheet and move midi DB to them.

Sorted by name for now.
Added prototypes to main table. Maybe will move to separate page later.
Please add info and link to photos, for missing boards.

Honestly I'm just quoting from earlier in the thread, ever since I moved more posts here from the eBay thread the other day. Look on the first page.

Again a quote from earlier in the thread. Ask that guy, not me. Sorry to cause confusion. 😀

AWE64 Gold Mark II - CT4560, a presumably existing prototype of the ultimate ISA SB that never went into production due to the shift towards PCI sound cards.

Fortex, the A3D & XG/OPL3 accelerator (Vortex 2 + YMF744 combo sound card)
AWE64 Legacy

That's gotta be it, the original poster was not specific. Thanks hard1k. 😀

Okay, I think I mined everything of use from lolo799's PCMCIA soundcard thread.

- If I missed anything, please go ahead and add it.

- easy_john's list is only of RARE soundcards, so please remove the ones that are NOT rare.

Thanks, I edited a bit as I don't own some of the cards anymore.
And there was one copy-paste error in the description of a card, other than that, good job!
