Only 26 perfect X2 boards received this week.
Shipping the first 25 DreamBlaster X2 today+tomorrow. (first ordered = first shipped)

14 more boards expected mid next week, these will go through X-Ray inspection and rework first,
I only want to ship perfect boards, even if it takes some more time.

Also shipping S1 2017 black editions.

Got the mail about S1 being shipped. Really looking forward, as this is a special product.
I was all kind of like not wanting one, untill I saw the black edition as a pre order.

I Already have a Dreamblaster S1 and am quite impressed with it.
Taking into consideration the combo deal offer and the fact that after 30th June 2017 the Government here is going to
add a 10% tax to all international online purchases I thought Why Not!

All purchases? Or just purchases over a certain value?
We allready pay 25% vatt on everything, that has a value of 12 US Dollars and higher.
If the value is over 18 US Dollars, we pay import tax on top. (vatt + tax)
And to top it all of with some "desert", the postal service charge an additional fee of
aproximately 24 US Dollars. To handle vatt and import tax.

There is no distingtion between new or used item's.
Some item's are taxed even higher. (This is only on items bought outside the EU)

EDIT:
As an example. This would not cost me what the seller is asking.
Getting that SC-55, I would have to pay aprox 169 US Dollars in total.

It's currently 10% GST (goods and services tax) on most items sold in Australia, new and old, including shops and online businesses located here.
Things like fresh fruit and veg and some other unpackaged items have been exempt.
Up until 30th June 2017 there has been zero tax on purchases under $1000 outside of Australia from ebay and other online businesses.
over $1000 purchases attract 10% GST.
Businesses still pay import duty but not purchases For personal use.

I didn't get the mail. I guess I ordered too late and will be on the next wave of assemblies. Any idea what the next wave will be ready to ship?

I'm going to paint racing stripes on mine to make it faster.

And I thought Romania is a crappy country with the worst Postal service in the world.
At least we do not get charged that 24 USD for handling.

I'd recommend just putting some blue LEDs around it to make it run cooler.

Actually that's probably still true. Of all the letters and packages I send to my mother in Romania, over 50% don't get delivered.

which card will be better for DreamBlaster X2 to work with? OPTi 82c929 or YMF719 based?

I would probably choose a Yamaha-based card over a Opti one, based on the fact that the YMF719 has real OPL3, whereas the Opti unless it has a separate OPL3 chip will give you only a poor emulation. As far as wavetable synthesis goes, the X2 should work equally well on both.

All OPTi 924 and also 929 based cards have a dedicated FM chip which is either a genuine OPL3 or an identical sounding 1:1 copy. I did a table where you can lookup the different chips: http://www.amoretro.de/guides-workshops/opl2- … -und-nachbauten

Regarding the wavetable header: If available on the card, both Yamaha and OPTi based cards headers work well in DOS and Windows.

On a sidenote I would still chose a Yamaha based card over a no-name OPTi based card, but there are also some well made OPTi cards.

I actually don't know about Opti based cards. Though an Audician32 or similair YMF-718/719 based cards,
is what you might want to go for. Yet there is an alternative to YMF cards that are perhaps just as fine.

If you can do without an internal mixer, then you can go for a Vibra16 that has an OPL chip on it.
The Vibra's are good cards in that they don't have that hanging note bug.
I have this card in my collection and it sound's just as good as the Audician, though it has SB16 and it
has bad SB-Pro implementation like all other SB16's, yet the YMF-718/719 lack's SB16 support.

Notice the OPL chip!!!

About that missing mixer feature. In my hobby room, I am using one of them "home cinema" dvd players
with build in amplifier. It is a surround system, though it has a stereo setting for CD playback.
Basically. I am using an external mixer so to speak.

EDIT:
Read it all through, and edited it. It really did not make sence. What I wrote in the first place.
Guess I must have had my thoughts elsewere.

Bro, I can confirm that at least some Vibras are susceptible to the hanging note bug.

Did not know that. Bummer 🙁 What models are they. Or how can I find out by looking at Vibra's?

Unfortunately all the Vibras have the hanging note bug, whether you plug a synth externally or using the wavetable header.
