What do you mean it doesn't work? No sound? Or the game complains that no MPU-401 was found? If it's not the latter then fiddle with the mixer - turn everything up. Wavetable may not be labeled sensibly.

Hi Badmojo, its the music only (midi), I'm not getting any sound.
The card appears to be successfully configured, the MPU-401 interface is configured to port 330 but I don't know if this is the wavetable or just the gameport midi output. This is in DOS only mind, Im not getting any midi sound when selecting General Midi or MPU-401 in Doom2 etc. The mixer volumes (ESSVOL.exe) shows the channels aren't muted and the volumes at a sensible levels. I will double check this however as I remember an odd entry on the list labled 'AuxB' . W.

EDIT: I love you Badmojo!! It was AuxB set to 0, just added ESSVOL /a:10 to the autoexec.bat (the change to volume wouldn't carry across on reboot). It sounds gooooooood.

Many thanks & have a good day, W.

I stream retro games every wednesday here & I dump the recordings here

hi,
15 more X2 were shipped to me yesterday evening, but they did not arrive today. I expect to receive them on monday, so will be able to ship on tuesday at earliest.
The rest of X2 should arrive by the end of next week.

I do have 1 perfect green X2 which I can ship. Only 5 green X2 were even made, so this is quite limited edition. If someone ordered X2 and wants to receive this green X2 instead of black, just PM me ASAP with your order number. I can post this one tomorrow morning.

Is there a trick, how I can communicate and can manipulate the X2 via USB Connection.
The Dreamblaster Loader does not detect the board and the X2Presets Editor does not work too.
I use Windows 7 and USB connection. The Midi Playback works.

Got it! It is really essential that the X2 is configured as Midi device 1. It does not work, if you select X2 as Midi in and Out device manually.

hi,

I am using windows 7 as well, and just tested again, for me it works fine.

As USB MIDI playback works on your pc, the driver appears to work.
Make sure you don't have any other software running that uses the USB midi driver, when you run X2Upload.

You can press 'refresh' in X2Upload to refresh the USB MIDI driver list.
Select 'DreamBlaster X2' as IN and OUT driver.
for preset updates : Select your DXP file , Memory type should be set to flash and address to 0x70000 by default .
for soundbank updates : Select your DXB file , Memory type should be set to flash and address to 0x80000 by default .

Press update to flash the file : (this is for writing the 16Mb soundbank, in the screenshots)

After the update, press 'reboot' to restart your X2,
After this, the new soundbank or preset should be effective.

Please note :the preset editor just loads and saves to file.
Make sure you check every setting you wish to store, in the editor (only checked options are saved).
The idea is to use the X2Upload tool to upload the preset file.
The X2 overrides the default settings with checked settings at bootup.

You can read more detailed instructions in the user manual : http://serdaco.com/downloads/X2/X2_Documentat … er%20Manual.pdf

Success !
Serge

So all works ok now ?
What do you mean by 'Midi Device 1' ? Is some other driver (like a midi yoke loopback driver) on your system linked to the X2 driver ?
In that case, yes you will need to connect through the loopback driver, as de default (standard windows) X2 driver is not multilcient, only one program can be connected at the same time.

Yes, that was the issue. But I found the solution in the manual.

So is it possible to epoxy on a wavetable header to the AWE64 series cards with the wires soldered to the game port solder pins? If so, which pins on game port's solder pads need to go to which pins on the wavetable header? This seems to be essentially what is done on the CHiLLandPhilAdapter.

Yup, it is possible, I've modded one of my AWE64 Value editions and added a wavetable connector as well as a SIMMCON adapter.

It's in the post below.

Do you have more detail on this mod, like which pin goes where? I see that not all of your wires go to the game port and I see what looks like an added resister. If you could provide a wiring diagram so that others could replicate what you've done, it would be helpful.
