idk something with the (bass?) lead on DOOM E1M2 sounds....out of tune? wrong key? It just sounds off compared to the sound I was expecting.

This is very strange. E1M9 sounds like the drums are playing ahead of the rest of the track?

The instruments themselves sound alright for a default pack, but those drums kept throwing me off when trying to listen. The drums should not start until about 3 or 4 seconds into the song

hmm okay, I would assume this is due to the midi file i played, it may be incorrect.
Yours sounds different ? could you point me where i can download it ?
