Building a win98/late dos gaming pc.

i have two motherboards available to me, a asus p5ld2 rev2 and an Asrock 775i65G.

from my understanding the asus board dose not support ddma, and the only dos sound cards available to me are Aureal AU88x0 cards, is this correct and if so which card should i go after?

the asrock board dose support ddma apparently , but agp gfx cards are more expensive, and i already have a pcie 6800 ultra, if i were to use this board again what card should i shoot for?

thank-you for you help.

None of them support DDMA. For the 775i65G your options are PCI Yamaha YMF 7x4 with DSDMA TSR, Aureal Vortex 1/2, Sound Blaster PCI/Live!/Audigy and Forté Media FM801-AU. For the P5LD2 you're limited to PCI Yamaha YMF 7x4 and perhaps Aureal Vortex 1/2.

If booting into real dos you also have SoundBlaster's up till the Audigy 2 ZS and the Ensonic PCI 64
A lot of other cards have dos support if you play the game from within Windows.

Edit: Kamerat got in 1st!

I recommend YMF-724, Vortex2 or SB-Live.
