Drivers install fine, but I still cant get any sound and it wont show devices. In xp and 98 the it works fine on this build.

Specs:
Motherboard: Asus P3V4X
CPU: 1.4GHz PIII-s
RAM: 2GB PC133
HDD: 120GB
Audio: SB Live 5.1 (From old dell)
OS: Windows 2000 Pro

Is there a better sound card out there for this build like an Audigy perhaps? Im trying to keep my build around the year 2000-2003ish.

Which drivers did you install? What specific SB Live model are you using? If it came from a Dell, you might need Dell's OEM drivers.

The KX Project drivers might be worth a try.

I have no clue what that is.

There's an SB0220 driver CD on Vogonsdrivers; I wouldn't count on anything else working correctly.

I got a new card its a sound blaster live 5.1 (SB0060) on my dell 4100 with windows ME on one hard drive and 2000 pro on the other drive (dual boot). I grabbed the latest driver from creatives website for winME and that installed perfectly not a single problem. Now on the windows 2000 side there seems to be no such driver on creatives website it keeps giving me the driver for the SB live series not the 5.1. I tried a few driver programs and they keep installing the live series driver as well, but that driver don't work with a live 5.1 card.

As mentioned before. kX drivers might be a valid solution.

The issue is that I'm fairly certain all of the SBxxxx cards are OEM cards and often will only work with specific OEM drivers.
