I've got an mt32 hooked up to a SB 2.0 via the creative midi adapter.

Can't run softmpu because I can't run emm386 on this machine.

Is there any way to get sound working through the Roland in monkey island on this setup?

I have no clue what I'm doing! If you want to watch me fumble through all my retro projects, you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrDavejustdave

Hm... does QEMM require 386? Might be able to find an EMM that works on a 286... that said I am not real familiar with this vintage of hardware.

Softmpu won't work on a 286 CPU, that's where you need a real MPU or compatible card.

It's not about EMM as memory, it's about trapping IO port accesses, which is a feature of 386 CPU that can be most easily requested from EMM memory managers such as EMM386 or QEMM as they run the CPU in virtual 86 mode.
