Have been doing some testing with the X2 on my Japanese computers.
Will post samples here as I upload them.
All are done on real hardware.
X2 is installed in Korg NS5R.

nice but is there a GM option in the game? AFAIK X2 has a GM bank - not a GS one?

Damn, seems I had a flaky connection somewhere along the capture chain. Hence the speaker balance is off. This is a capture mistake, not the fault of the X2.

The Dreambank while only listed as GM on the website is GS compatible from my tests, maybe not 100%, but good enough for most games. The GUD bank is strictly GM though, and I will do recordings with that later. Castlevania does have a pure GM mode, but it is a simplified version of the GS option.

Modules: CM-64, CM-500, SC-55MkII, SC-88 Pro, SY22, TG100, MU2000EX, PLG100-SG, PLG150-DR, PLG150-AN, SG01k, NS5R, GZ-50M, SN-U110-07, SN-U110-10, Pocket Studio 5, DreamBlaster S2, X2, McFly, E-Wave, QWave, CrystalBlaster C2, Yucatan FX, BeepBlaster

ah, that might explain why it sounded off... can't wait to hear the new version 😀
and yes, I was thinking of the GUD bank 😵

Ok, let's try this again...
Super Street Fighter II is up (link in first post).
Quite a nice match for GUD imo. Well balanced and clear.

SuperDeadite, thank you very much for the recordings!
Japanese computers, such as PC-98 and X68000, deserve waay more attention, I believe.
They had great games and tunes, we in the western world rarely heard of so far.
(Btw, I really liked your X68000 MIDI Parade videos! I own a CM64, too, but never heard it fully "in action". ^^)

Super! I'm sure you will - I'll keep my fingers crossed. 😁

Die Bahnwelt is up (links kept in first post).
An obscure one, but one of the very few X68000 games to have a full English fan translation.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is up.
Most complicated orchestral MIDI in a game I know of.
This is where I feel GUD needs the most improvement.
It sounds ok, just not very impressive compared to the rock instruments.

Castlevania on GUD is up.
Sounds quite good, I like it.
Note a few of the sound effects are wrong.
At the end of Moon-Fight it plays the telephone ring instead of the door slam.
Start of Simon's theme should have a heart beat, but here it plays something...odd 🤣.
But, I think this is the game's fault and not the Dreamblaster.
Castlevania's GM support is a hidden option and a watered down version of the GS option.
When selected it sends a GM Reset, but each of the individual MIDI tracks still contains a GS Reset.
On a pure GM module this approach works. But here I think GUD sees the GS Reset and thus plays the wrong effects.
