I have a Roland SC-55 that's having a weird problem. When playing games, there are random high pitch ding sounds kind of like a triangle. I know it's not part of the song because they show up at different times every time I play the game. I hear it a lot when playing Doom and Doom II. Is this a problem with the SC-55 itself or maybe a problem with the MIDI interface in my SB16? Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is your SC-55 connected to the MIDI out port of your Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32?
If so, it's a well known problem with these range of sound cards - refer http://www.vogonswiki.com/index.php/Hanging_note_bug
Verify this with the particular model sound card that you have (the CT number).

Maybe it has some settings stored from the previous owner...? Do a factory reset: power the unit on while holding both instrument buttons (up and down). It will ask if you want to Reinitialize, and press ALL for yes.

This is also a great opportunity to open the unit and check the battery as well ... you can completely remove it as it's not needed at all for game playback, that way each power-on will be in factory defaults.

The SC-55 is plugged into the sound card which is a SB Vibra 16 using SB16 PnP drivers. So I'm guessing it's my sound card then.
