I just read about this tech. If I am not mistaken, it seems to be used on iOS devices only. Anyone familiar with this? I have an iPad and it would be cool to have it play a MIDI and send it to one of my sound modules wirelessly if that is possible with this device. Has anyone attempted this?

Seems like no one here has played around with this wireless hardware so I am going to go ahead and get the Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth Wireless MIDI Adaptor and do some testing in iOS, Android, and possibly Windows 10. If it works then I will probably get a few more but if not than I am out the $50 I paid for them.

Stand by for comments from me once I get the hardware in and test it out...

OK, I did some testing with these and they did not work out for me. I could not get them recognized as a usable device. The app that you use to manage these do allow you to rename them and update the firmware if needed but it never gets the device into a usable condition. I might play around with them again after a firmware update is released but at this moment they are useless to me, unfortunately.

Hi, perhaps the adapter does require the new Bluetooth LE (low energy) ?
A "smart ready" capable device (tablet/smartphone..) does usually support both classic and new bluetooth.

Anyway, it's just an idea.
The fact that the connection already was established hints to another problem.
Missing bluetooth profiles, maybe.

I was using an iphone 6 for this round of testing which I would assume supports these bluetooth standards. I have some bluetooth 4.0 USB adapters coming in soon which specifically support LE so I will be doing a round of testing in Windows with those when they come in.

OK, I got it to work with my iPhone 6 and was able to use an app that acted as a keyboard to send midi signals to my sound module. Now all I need to do is find a MIDI player for the iPhone that can send a whole song over.

Tried my new bluetooth adapters in Win 8.1 but I could not get windows to pair with the MIDI BT adapter.
