So I updated to v1.15 tonight.. card is totally dead. downgraded to 1.10, its ok.

hmm...

So the v1.10 is LATER than the v1.15!

1.15 reads
(C) Copyright 1991-1993 by Mike W. Smith. All Rights Reserved ROM Version 1.15

1.10 reads
MM-401 Single Port (C) Copyright 1991-1995 by Mike W. Smith. All Rights Reserved ROM Version 1.10

The 1.15 uses about 2/3 of the 8kb rom, the 1.10 uses all of it.

So, old style MM401 has horizontal ROM. Newer style has vertical ROM and an empty socket.

Does anyone have the disks for the newer version? The ones on vogons are for the old style card..

Noticed the difference? The other one is obviously for the Dual Port card.

uh.. both midiman mm401 isa (old+new) only have a single port. you have to go up to the winman 2x2 to get dual ports.
they never made a dual port midiman mm401 isa card.

did you notice that the 1.15 is dated 1993 and the 1.10 is dated 1995?

the version and dates make sense if the models are different so I think derSammler is on to something.

sure, the extra socket is wired to be the same as the first ram socket, there is also a second opto socket, so dual port makes sense. only they never made one for whatever reason.

there is nothing written on the box, manual etc that this mm401 is different from the old one. functionality wise, they are the same.
there is nothing on the pcb indicating revision either.

obviously the rom is keyed to pcb revision (old/new)..

they just never made it clear the two mm401 are differrent, rom wise.

the string in the bios is also never printed as far as I can tell. (Ive decompiled the rom but my 8051 is soooo rusty)...
