Hello, I'm a long time viewer but this will be my first time posting. This is going to be lot to read but bear with me... 😅

I recently found out about the Guillemot Maxi Sound and the Terratec EWS64 bank soundsets. I have been trying to figure out how to convert these .94B/.94K/.94I files into SF2 so I could use them in my own music. Unfortunately, these file formats are REALLY old so most of the info for these formats are from years ago and many links become almost unavailable if not broken from sites going defunct over time. I had to use The Wayback Machine for most of what I could get. From all the info I could find...

TTI Converter 2.02 can convert TTI files to SF2 but not TTS files. However, a user does claim it can work with it. It wouldn't load the file for me.

Vsample 16 can convert .94b files. Couldn't get a working link. Tried newer versions and they don't support the files. https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/archive/instru … 001-10/1175.php

Then there is the last option that I could find which is use SampleLink by Synoptic. I was able to find a demo version of the program using The Wayback but not the full program. It seems to load files but you can't convert anything because the demo doesn't allow it.

https://web.archive.org/web/20061120004957fw_ … l.com/slink.htm

Extra Info: I have a program that can convert .94B files to TTS and vice versa.

These are the ways I could go about getting to SF2 if I had the right tools...
94B to TTS to DLS to SF2.
94B to TTS to TTI to SF2.
94B directly to SF2 if someone can find a full version of SampleLink.

There is also a possibility of a VST floating out there that I don't know about that can just load these files.
So far I have been working on this for quite a few days and still haven't gotten anywhere aside from importing the files into Audacity and cutting every single sample separately which I really don't want to do. 😢

So please, let me know anything you guys might have tucked in a hard drive somewhere or have knowledge regarding this topic.

You can convert SF to TTS with SampleLink. But the 94B and TTS formats have severe limitations, and thus only like one of ten SF2 banks can be converted. I went that path and was disappointed in the end. My expectations were that I could convert lots of <64M SF2 banks and use them on my Terratec EWS64XL, but in fact I were able to convert only a few banks of dozens that exist.

However, SampleLink's TTS to SF2 function works properly if I remember right.

Hmm, I see... I would like to use Samplelink and try to convert the most that I can, if any according to your post, but I haven't been able to find a full version of said program anywhere. Could you maybe point me in the right direction? I have tried looking for it but I fear it may be just about impossible to find considering I had to use the Wayback Machine to get a demo of it. If nothing else could someone at least tell me about a program that can separate the samples and export them all? I remember reading about this program that was able to do something like this but for the life of me I can't remember the exact name or where I remember reading it from.

I can import the files in Audacity but I would have to manually select each and every piece and export it. The program that I remember hearing about was named something like SwissAudioKnife I think? I distinctly remember it having the word knife in it and that it could chop up individual samples from one multisample file and export them all. Anybody heard or know of a program that can do this?

Seems I confused SampleLink with Ed!son. I don't know where to find SampleLink, but you can find Ed!son here: http://www.studio4all.de/htmle/main38.html#ews64sw04

Also, there's TTI Converter to make SF2 from TTI: http://www.studio4all.de/htmle/main38.html#ews64sw03

I finally found the software I was talking about! Wave Knife is the name of it. It took a while to figure out how the program worked but once I did it worked like a charm! As long as the samples aren't so close together to where it seems like its one sound. While this doesn't quite solve the issue of converting them to SF2, it at least allows me to cut out the samples of them without having to go in manually. The only way to download this program is by using the Wayback Machine however.

I was able to get it with this link: https://web.archive.org/web/20061230221042/ht … ife114alpha.zip

I'll be on the look out for a converter but in meantime this program will do just fine.

P.S. I'm only posting this so that other people that are trying to do the same will find this post and see this solution of sorts.

While we are talking about converting...
Did anyone find another program to convert from SF2 to the EWS64XL Banks?
I tried Ed!son, and like bristlehog said it was... not was I expected. The few banks which are out there are the best choices right now.
It is probably possible to create really good results... but first: working with Ed!son is quite unintuitive and second: it doesn't convert correctly.

Hi, I made the conversion sf2 to 94b, I do not know if it's correct.
Using Awave Studio: open the sf2 file, and save as DLS Level1.
Then program dlsread.exe and then Maxi Studio ISIS Soundbank Manager, as in my video from minute 55:48

Now if we could somehow find a way to reverse this process. Is there a program out there that can convert 94B to DLS then DLS to SF2? I think I already have a DLS to SF2 converter but all my searches for a 94B to DLS converter have failed. Does someone know something I don't?

Sorry, for not a quick answer
I did not find any program that could read * .94B files, maybe one, but it requires hardware and the chances are small

As for the loss of quality, not all data is sent, especially when converting * .sf2 to * .dls, especially to * .dls Level 1
But the quality mainly depends on the source file, in this case * .sf2 (some *.dls)

Some of the * .sf2 (* .dls) files do not lose their quality, especially from well-known producers. Second hand fonts do not have many problems. But third-hand fonts have a lot of problems and data loss.
In my opinion and from what I see, I am not an expert, and I did not compare data, but *.sf2 *.dls compliant with standards and do not have special functions, are well converted into * .94B
