Just watched Lazy Game Reviews review this new card; it looks awesome, and seems to be awesome. It also seems a bit pricey for me.
I've been looking for an 8-bit sound card that will fit the 8-bit ISA slot in my T5200/100 (my soundblaster is just a bit too long). If it weren't so expensive, this one would fit the bill.

It's based on the OPL3 rather than OPL, giving it 2 extra channels over the AdLib.

Here's the review:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61d9xFG5aSo

And here's the website for the card:
https://texelec.com/product/resound-opl3-4-ch … card-8-bit-isa/

I'll probably go with an OPL2 kit (if I can find one) that's cheaper, as much as I'd love to have one of these to work with.

Seems like a bit of a shame that they only support one base address at a time.
The 'standard' for OPL3 is the Sound Blaster Pro 2, I think.
And it has the first port of OPL3 on 388h for compatibility, and both ports at 220h and 221h respectively.

It seems like you now have to reconfigure the card depending on whether you want to use it as an AdLib or OPL3 card.
I would hardwire a 388h decoder, and have the dip switches as the 'base address' selector, like on the SB Pro 2.

They are selling these cards on eBay already.. too pricey for just an OPL3 card.

Another option that is no longer than the 8-bit slot itself is the Aztech Sound Galaxy BX-II. It is a Sound Blaster 2.0 clone.
There is one on AMIBay right now.

I really like the idea. Though I would have had prefered a dual-opl3 card for music (AdlibTracker II).
If it kept the default ports for the first opl3 and retained the address scheme for a second, it would have allowed for some fancy 4op songs.
In the end, this would have been allowed someone to hack a second, generic opl3 card to use it as an "upgrade" in polypony.
So someone could re-create that dual-opl3 card with two separate soundcards.

We are running a sale until Sunday on this card in our store to celebrate the LGR review. The price on eBay will remain the same. 😀 We only have a few left at the moment but we have a few more we will be building, likely tonight.

Nice, I've been looking for an adlib clone. The surround is a novelty for me, but I'm sure it will be of interest to other people. At least having a card able to do it, as per the chip specs, is very cool.

I watched that review yesterday too. Quite an interesting device, although chalk me up as another person more interested in an OPL2 kit card. It is nice to see someone selling the lo-tech designs again. Quite attractive PCB colours too.

Why do people call these an Adlib clone? It's not an Adlib clone. Adlib has OPL2, mono sound, volume control.

It's an 8bit card which has full hardware backwards compatibility with opl2, and can be used as a drop-in replacement. To me, it's an Adlib clone with extended features.

If you want volume control, you can probably just plug one of these between the card and your amp/speakers/headphones:

for a proper adlib clone, build Sergey's. http://www.malinov.com/Home/sergeys-projects/isa-opl2-card

Which is also an awesome source for fraud ... considering the last AdLib I've seen on eBay sold for 451€

Sure. But that is probably not really the fault of hobbyists who designed the replica (their aims were rather contrary).
These sellers simply make use of the greed of certain types of collectors, I think.
I'm sure same happens in other fields of interests, too. 😀

I for one like the idea of replicas very much in general, since they give an impression how things used to be.
Even though they are not originals in general understanding.

at least the logo on the "accurate replica" is different so anyone in the know won't be scammed

It should make a great 2nd card to work with an AWE 64 Gold, Disable 388 on the AWE and feed the resound card through the lin-in on the AWE. I’m currently doing this with a SB Pro 2, but the resound should be a cleaner solution.

Is it even possible to disable the Adlib-port on Awe2/64 cards? I'l admit iv never messed around with any of them before, but iv seriously been considering doing a dedicated-OPL3 + AWE Card config myself (and from what iv seen, CQM Awe's tend to go far less then those with a genuine Yamaha so... 🤣 )

I don't think you even need to disable port 388h.
It would mean that both cards will play the OPL2 music, but you could just mute the FM on the SB's mixer.

On read accesses there will be bus conflicts, if read accesses on one side can be disabled there will not be problems.
