Some serial MIDI drivers can send more than 16 channels over a serial connection if you enable specific options...

But that would require that the device supports it and also that the serial connection runs at twice the normal speed. Which device can handle that? I don't know of any.

The serial connection is normally just a MIDI In with RS-232 protocoll and an adapted baud rate. Even for devices with USB, you can't just send more than 16 channels. Instead, you get e.g. two virtual MIDI devices that can take 16 channels each. That's because MIDI is limited to 16 channels...

AFAIK, that's exactly what those serial drivers will do.

I use the serial on my mu2000, and it can handle all 64 channels at once in both directions.
