I got a Gigabyte GA-6vtx rev 1.2 and a celeron tualatin 1.1ghz

I have the following ISA sound card:

-SB 32 3670 + 8mb for ram
-ESS audio drive
-Aztech 2230 sound card and modem
-Audician 32
Which one is the best suited for this machine with win 98SE?
Also is possible using with a SB live at same machine?

Retro rig 1: Asus CUV4X, VIA c3 800, Voodoo Banshee (Diamond fusion) and SB32 ct3670.
Retro rig 2: Intel DX2 66, SB16 Ct1740 and Cirrus Logic VLB.

Should be fine using any of those with an SB Live, you might have a resource conflict with multiple gameports though. I'd choose either the SB32 or Audician 32... the Aztech 2230 could be a nice choice too if it has a YMF262 chip on it.

I would go for the SB32. I had several AWE64s with SIMMCONNs, a SB32 with 8MB, a SB16 with NEC MIDI DB, and an Audician 32 on hand. I tried all, and decided to go for AWE64. If I had no AWE64s on hand, I most probably would have gone for SB32. See the rig below in my sig.

You sure that Aztech is a 2230? Not familiar with that model. Sure you don't mean AZT2320? In which case the card will be something like an I38-MMSN855 if it has sound and modem (also known at the Packard Bell 'Rocky 2.5' if I recall correctly). If so it's a great card for a setup like this, with ISA PnP that actually works and a built-in real OPL3, and the one I have here is pretty noise-free too.

That said, the Audician 32 is all Yamaha and I would expect it to give the best sound quality, whereas the 3670 with 8MB has all the built-in AWE32 magic. All in all you're spoiled for choice 😉

I made a mistake. The Aztech card is a 2320.

The Aztech chip is a 2320.

For the card, look for the FCC ID (I38-xxxxxxx). If it's this one, it's a slightly older one than the I38-MMSN855 I mentioned - but in terms of sound compatibility/features it's just the AZT2320 that's relevant so that will be the same, only the output quality may be different. So in any event, as good as ISA PnP is going to get, and full hw SBPro2 compatibility with real OPL3. Just a 28k8 or 14k4 modem instead of 56k6 😜

In any other case I'd recommend it, but with an Audician 32 and an SB32 with RAM making it a full AWE32 as alternatives you are spoiled for choice. Only reason the Aztech might be a better choice is if you get resource issues with those two due to ISA PnP and/or resource reservation hell - I have at least one system where the AZT2320 is the only ISA sound card I can get to work...
