Anyone up to date with a good method for playing midi files in windows 7 w/ a serial to midi driver?

I know that selecting a default midi device has been removed from win 7 but i'm having a hard time even finding a good serial to midi driver.

I'm not really looking for "possible solutions" to try but if you've used a hardware synth to play midi's over serial, i'm all ears.

Even in XP I always had annoying issues trying to get drivers set up, or things working the way they should. Both with Roland and Yamaha synths. Always went back to regular MIDI cables.

Roland Serial Out Driver should work fine.

Do you use real Serialport or a USB Cable ?

If you have a real SC-7 you just need a serial cable for it. And maybe a RS232 USB Cable.

And the Roland Website lists Serial Out Driver, this is official Roland Driver.

Nice to hear it works, think I only used this combination in reverse, as MIDI serial port input to my PC.
