The answer may be very simple but it is eluding me. I can't seem to find a way to use the MIDI mapper to use an installed wavetable daughterboard instead of the EMU800 chip for general MIDI, and I can't seem to do that. Is this possible? The midi configuration in Windows 9x makes this a lot easier, but in Win3.1 it's really not very straightforward..

Do you have separate devices for the MPU-401 interface and MPU emulation for the EMU8k?

That's the first time I hear Win9x had a good MIDI mapper.

After a lot of messing about I did a reinstall of the driver CD which populated the MIDI Mapper with SB16 Synth, SB16 MIDI and AWE32 Synth (with All/Basic/Extended options for each). Messing about with these, I found out that SB16 Synth is OPL3, SB16 MIDI is MPU401 and AWE32 Synth is EMU800. No idea what Basic, Extended or All is. But at least I can play MIDI on all devices now. Cheers.

Sooner or later you will have to get an idea about them 😀

Very informative, thank you! I will stick to All for the time being 😀
