How about the internals of Music Modules?

I'll start with 3 of them:

1. E-Mu Sound Engine (1993 version)

2. Anteg EasyMidi EM-100

I like the Midi Blaster: looks like a bunch of ROMs with Creative Stickers on them. Besides the 74 series ICs the other ones are probably Waveblaster ICs? I guess the device is from the early SoundBlaster 16 era?

I can only offer a screengrab from my SC55 video:

I would have to open it again to make a better pic. 😀

By the way on your homepage you put the wrong photograph online for the NS5R! (you linked the Emu Soundengine)

Interesting to compare yours to mine (I rotated so same orientation).

Interesting to see date code variations on the '93 board, your AD dac is a '92 mine is a '94 etc. You have some bodge resistors in the bottom right and the power on top left on mine is different, and no bodge resistors

I see it now. I'll change the image on the website.
There are indeed some differences. That with the resistors.... Could it be that it is a left/right channel swap? I have an early version of the roland scb-55 and it has a somewhat similar factory mod for swapping the channels.

Hate to bump a thread that's over 6 months old, however, for your Roland MT-32 battery backup mod, do you have a schematic for version #3? I'm planning on doing that for my Roland MT-32 so I can install Blue Ridge ROMs.

I believe the battery backup mod was only published for the early rev non-headphones. it is, imo, not worth doing and the blue ridge roms dont bring anything to the table. All the mt32 motherboards have I believe 4x 6264 8kb SRAMS. Someone could probably easily make a daughter board to replace the 4 6264 8kb SRAMS with NVRAMs instead of messing with batteries... shrug. This way you dont need to cut traces on the board and such.
