Here's a quick question for a couple of sound cards I'm interested in. Which one would be better for my Packard Bell Pack-Mate 28 Plus?

1) Atrend ATC-6631 (YMF719 OPL3-SAx, SBPro2, Windows Sound System, OPL3, MPU-401 (and Wavetable header) compatible, and Gameport) with an optional IDE port (blank spots that require capacitors, resistors, IC chips, and the IDE port itself)
2) Packard Bell Plus 1150 Multimedia sound card (Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra FCC ID: I38-MMSN811), YMF262-M, WaveTable header/MPU-401 via the Gameport, Sony, Mitsumi, and Panasonic/Matsushita proprietary CD ROM controller (not IDE)

I have a Yamaha DB50XG Daughterboard and the Atrend ATC-6631 looks like I can add the daughterboard to the sound card without issues.

Which one do you prefer? Should I purchase both and see which one's the better candidate for my machine and put the other sound card in another machine?

I cannot really comment on the Atrend ATC-6631 but, based on this thread (Atrend ATC-6631 with YMF715B-S chipset), it seems to be a good card.
I'm quite a Aztech Sound Galaxy fan myself but, quite dislike their sound card range with the AZT-1605 chipset (which this model also utilises).
The problem is that, although it has an OPL3 FM synthesis chip (and will therefore give you stereo sound when playing back FM music) it's DAC is only Sound Blaster 2.0 (DSP 2.01) compatible, meaning only mono digitised sounds.

I would go for the Atrend.

Forgot to point out the OPL3-SAx is stereo output. Thanks, man.
