I feel like this is one of those questions that has been answered before but I can't seem to find it so be gentle.

Got an SQ2500 Aureal board and I have a dreamblaster attached to it because I'd like to play dos games on this machine. Unfortunately I can't even get doom to work. The machine is running 98SE and when I reboot in DOS mode it's totally worthless - can't access drives or anything much less get sound. Launching direct from inside 98 doesn't much work either. After some effort I got sound effects playing but no music. Seems Aureal does some stuff in the autoexec before 98 boots that enables port 220 (effects) but not 330 (music).

So my question is kind of half 98 and half sound card. How should I be playing dos games in a 98 environment and more importantly how can I get the dreamblaster daughterboard working in these dos games?
