Not seen our two yet - but I assume you posted them later due to the pickup attempt.

Nice video again, will help me with my own Snark Barker!

Top quality! I also like the inclusion of the game footage&sound.

Video also reminded me that I forgot to order a pair of tweezers.

And I finally received the SAA1099 shipment. Now only the bracket is missing.

SAA1099 installed, and fixed the volume control with a screw. Also installed the DSUB15 connector:

Amazing job.. cant wait to get my pcb :D Hopefully I dont ruin it with my shit soldering skills. Probably a good idea to do the adlib first :)

Adlib clone is a good practice. I did a MUS1099 last week (comparable to the Adlib in complexity I think).

Some (amateur) tips from me:
- Watch some YouTube vids on through-hole soldering techniques
- Watch Root42's YouTube vids for some specific thoughts on the cards
- Take your time (The MUS1099 took me about 3-4 hours to build. If I were to build another one right now, it would probably take me 2 hours)
- Use a well lit workspace
- Sort the parts beforehand and try and familiarise yourself with them a bit
- Keep a printed out version of the BOM and maybe some more documents from the project around for reference
- Some proper side cutters (I got a Knipex 78 61 125) are nice to have
- I have a PCB holder (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01MRAEY6M). It helps a lot.

EDIT: most important: it should be a fun job :) Take your time and enjoy :)

This is right on, if I'm not having fun then I rush and do a crap job, so have learnt to pack it up and leave it for another day (or month)
If it's broke, then fix it!

Hello! For those who missed the first PCB run, ##yamahasynths on Freenode is arranging a second run of PCBs; the amount of PCBs is to be determined. The cost will probably be ~$10 USD plus S+H. To register to get your own board (and only the board- you must provide the other parts yourselves), sign up using this form.

Thanks to Keropi I now have an original Creative DSP V2.02 (I think) to put on my Snark Barker. I think it will not change much, but it's nice to try out. I will also try to make an ISA bracket. Will make a new video once both things are finished and tested.

Are you sure it will be compatible with the DIL-40 pinout?

I have checked each pin using the 8051 datasheet and it checks out. I don't have a barker pcb but it uses the i8051 pinout, right?
